Toy Story (part II): Mattel Recalls Again--and Apologizes...
Now it's Batman and Barbie Playsets and Polly Pocket dolls-- all apparently made in China. The CEO of Mattel, Robert Eckert, took out a full page ad in Tuesday's Wall Street Journal, New York Times and USA Today, which showed a picture of three children playing together.
”Fellow Parents” Eckert wrote. ``Nothing is more important than the safety of our children. Our long record of safety at Mattel is why we're one of the most trusted names with parents. And I am confident that the actions we are taking now will maintain that trust.”
`Fellow parents' is the key phrase. How many parents in the US and everywhere else in the world now equate safety problems with Made in China? Mattel's stock is getting hammered in Tuesday trading in the US, but not as badly, I would guess, as China's rep...
