Outstanding Commitment to Human Rights and the Rule of Law in China Recognised
Chinese defence attorney and human rights advocate, Zhang Sizhi, was honored with the Petra-Kelly-Prize of the Heinrich-Böll-Stiftung during a special ceremony held on December 2, 2008 in Berlin.
Sizhi is known among Chinese lawyers as “the conscience of lawyers” and, since the early 1980s, he has been defending critics of the Chinese government who have been indicted by Chinese authorities.
