News Flash: Beijing's New CCTV Complex Burning

Part of the iconic CCTV (China Central Television) complex, about which we have written often, is on fire. It's early and reports aren't clear but the building next to what Beijingers call the "big underpants" is pouring out great gouts of flame and some 20 stories could be aflame, according to eye witnesses. This is the last night of Chinese new year and with the fireworks mayhem that always marks this day it's no suprise frankly that this sort of thing could happen. Sad though. Hundreds of millions of dollars and the sheer bad luck of even the adjacent part of what for some stands as a symbol of the new China going up in flames. We may some pictures up later.   Pics from Austin above.
