Daily commentary about China by TIME correspondents.

Unblocked

As some of our commenters have noted, the China Blog is now unblocked in China. We were censored last fall after the Great Time Blog Migration to WordPress. It looks like the mainland's block on blogs hosted by WordPress has now been lifted. The reasons for such actions are never explained, but the end of the recent National People's Congress meeting in Beijing may have something to do with it. The web slows drastically and more sites are blocked when sensitive events and anniversaries come around.

Access improved some time around the middle of last week. Already comments are returning to old China Blog levels. But the Net Nanny is cruel and capricious, so for you China-based readers who'd like to call us idiots, your time is now.

It is absolutely right and necessary to block WordPress and other unofficial information source in China during the NPC meetings. NPC members must be able to express their approval of CCP and singing their praises of CCP without any distraction as programmed. Having all kinds of foreign comments circulating around China accessible by NPC members is way too risky for the stability of China, and must be harmonized.

Well, sometimes people do ban dog barking in their neighbourhoods.
    People deserve freedom of speech.
Dogs, whoever, do not always deserve freedom of barking.

A letter to Simon, and "the China Blog"
    2009-3-23

Simon, if I have chance to contact you, I think it's appropriate to keep this talk with you in private.

First of all, I found that “the China Blog” has been available once again for mainland Chinese days ago. Considering the Chinese authorities have recently tightened the control and grip on medias and internet with a series of “housecleaning movements”, the re-opening of your site, which is sometimes involved in the “sensitive topics” , is fairly odd. I hope that your deleting on the comments and things like that are only aiming at me, not the beginning of the implementing of the conditions in exchange for your re-opening. If it were true, you would be another “BBC's James Reynolds' China”, or “the Deutsche Welle(the voice of Germany )”, and we Chinese people would really be sad losing one more place on where we can breathe free a bit. To tell the truth, I am really worrying about that.

Just as what I have stated before, I admit that my words are sometimes radical, especially when I found those evident lies, purposive misleading and confusing. If I were always talking with the ordinary netizens, no matter westerners or Chinese, I think that keeping rational, patient and tolerant should be easy to me. But, you must know, the “five-jiao-party”, “Wumao”, “professional internet commentator”, no matter what title you like to call, is really a headache for most Chinese netizens who are always longing for more truth. Whenever you open the main websites hosted in China, you will absolutely run into their surrounding and mire sooner, especially on the front pages and after the big news. Since “China has pretty much always been at the center of your life(as your introduction saying)”, I think that a bit more depiction about this unique occupation that can only be found in current China will “insult your intelligence”. To escape the brainwashing and to shake off the entanglement of Wumaos , I refused all the Chinese websites and then arrived in here. Out of my mind, the case here is not much different from those in Chinese. I have to fight with them once again.

Sometimes I think, that if I should ease to blame the “five-jiaos”? At last I gave up, because even though a modest person just as “Johnsmith” and so on who is always getting used to humorous and implied words, he is inevitably attacked by this gang evermore.

Now provided that you have begun to houseclean something such as those I cried out for the most miserable family, I suggest that you may also begin to embark on coping with those who have jammed too much junks into your site. Otherwise, that will harm you severely much than those “much longer” ones, I think.

I hope Mr "conscienceinchina" not to be cleansed, since I do believe in freedom of speech, though he is FLG.
If you guy have to delete somebody, delete me instead. I'd rather be kicked out than missing Mr "conscienceinchina" 's joke of five-jiao-wumao-five-jiao-wumao that can only make himself laugh.

    To the "democracy-activist" five-jiao "laohong":

What you are doing here is all for "fighting for democracy" (the "laohong" says)? wow! I admire you for your bold as brass!

The dirty mouth is you five-jiao's feature.

Since you and your fellows are flooding everywhere, the Chinese netizen must face your confusing and misleading and cheating every day. How can we normally surfer on internet before debunking your lies?

As for the "FLG" you mentioned, I will respond you with the words which have been used to despond your fellows' attack----

Thank you for flattering me with "Falon Gong". It's my honour to have chance to be praised as a member of them. They have been fighting the dictator and the evil with peaceful ways for many years, and a large number of them have been detained, tortured, persecuted and butchered by your masters, but they are still persisting in doing that. I am verily unable to have enough condition and volition to become one of them, so, don't apple-polish me once again, please!

Comparing the five-jiaos who are the lowest-ranking animals just as you, they are saints!

    To conscienceinchina FLG

    --- “five-jiao-party” and “Wumao"?
Show us one single comment without these words which you daily posted here. You are honestly telling us you are the only one hired here, maybe by "one-jiao" or "Yimao", not bad an income for a small towner like you. Your FLG sect leader Li Hongzhi, if not Bush, is generous, since he became a billionaire by collecting money from ignorant peasants like you.
But if the "five-jiao-party” and “Wumao" were your dad's nickname, I'd admire your filial piety, being so obedient that whatever merit you think you've finally achieved, you mention his name. lol!

    To conscienceinchina boy,

So glad you've finally admitted you are them sacrifying Falungong. You know Taipingtianguo and Boxers and Falungong are all spiritual sects but they believed in different things. Thing I admire most is Falungong started to become “warriors” though self-claimed peaceful and Chinese peasants like you begin to talk demoncrazy, with a dialect from outside 6th ring road. I don't care if Falungong served as darkest and most reactionary force to China's reform, even though their stink in the air violated my nose when they had a sit-in at Zhongnanhai. I worry about the trading price of a single vote in the future when a free election come to China. lol!
Anyway, useless to play harper to you. I only wish you a triumphant revolution, after your repeatedly reciting the sect leader's Little Yellow Book: "the Selected Works of Great Leader Li Hongzhi". But now, wake up and go pick up cotton.

"since I do believe in freedom of speech" - not the way you have behaved.

Like the CCP says, we will listen to your speech and watch your action. And they are certainly contrary to what you proclaimed. In short, you have no concept of what truth means.

Freedom of speech to you is just name calling.

  • 10

Although I am based in London
I certaily will call Johnsmith and conscienceinchina as idiots
    Haha
    freedom of speech

  • 11

Name calling becomes you too, bluescreen2008.

    To JohnSmith

when you condemn name calling, pay some attention to your own style please.

    To the five-jiao(五毛) “laohong”:

    1.Is it a shame to be a “Falun Gong”, or a “five-jiao(五毛)”?

Though I don't know what the “Falun Gong” is believing in, and what they are practicing, there is still one key point I surely know, and also known by the world, that they are fighting the CCP, your master, with the whole they own, even their blood, organs(been harvested while they were still alive! ), and lives! So they are of course the enemy of the CCP, and of you. Therefore suppressing, torturing, persecuting and butchering them are the CCP's working emphasis, logically attacking and vilifying them are you five-jiaos' major tasks.

2.Is it a shame to be a “Chinese peasants ”?

Everyone here knows you are an ethnic Chinese. Each living Chinese people's forebears before several generations are peasants. If you are fouling “Chinese peasants”, you are fouling your own forefathers, and yourself!

As for your master CCP, they started their business mainly in countrysides, and on the peasants. And also, most of the CCP forthgoers were peasants, including Mao, your “red sun”. If you are fouling “Chinese peasants”, you are indeed fouling your superiors.

3.Aren't you “ stinking in the air”?

Please look back your own comments, can you find any piece without stench? As a matter of fact, you can not do anything here except your dirty mouth.

    4. You “worry about the trading price of a single vote in the future when a free election come to China”?

Oh! Unfortunately, you show your hoof once again! In fact, you are worrying about the “free election” will send your masters and you to the scaffold!!

As for the dirty mouths of the others "five-jiaos(五毛)" here, I will ignore them unless they can write a virtual word besides the dirty words.

great to have you guys back! and all the other wordpress blogs as well. you win some (wordpress), you lose some (youtube)

--"you are worrying about the “free election” will send your masters and you to the scaffold!"?
Since you are not smart enough, let me teach you self-important kid:
Even if with a free election, your swindler master Li Hongzhi will lose and CCP will win landslide, only to piss you small towner angry boy off, lol!

[...] CNN/Time China Blog reports that it is unblocked for the first time since it moved to [...]

    To the five-jiao “laohong”:

    1. “Since you are not smart enough, let me teach you self-important kid (the laohong says)”
---I do agree with you, Mr. “laohong”. I am truly unable to get “smart enough” just as you, who is “smart enough” to sell himself to dignitary just for meals, and for temporary safety. So, teach me how to toady, fawn, flatter, please.

    2. “Even if with a free election, your swindler master Li Hongzhi will lose and CCP will win landslide”(the laohong says)

A): “Even if with a free election”
---You mean our great “NPC &CPPCC两会” and things like that are not “free election”? I think you are in danger committing a political mistake…

B): “your swindler master Li Hongzhi will lose”
---I know fewer about Mr. Li, who has been ousted from China long time ago. I know fewer about “FLG” too, until they have widely been cruelly tortured and butchered by your master and then finally began to revolt with peaceful ways. After the international community has been mightily condemned your master's atrocity, we domestic Chinese have got to know the fact. However, so far I have never heard Mr. Li's political idea(if condemning and disclosing the massacre and torture on them were a political idea, he truly has). If you have heard, tell me please. But if he were allowed to be a candidate, he would at least win your master, because any human being can defeat the CCP and its jackals, who have no crime they have never committed, in a real “free election”.

C): “and CCP will win landslide”
---Saddam Hussein was always elected by 100% votes, as well as all your great leaders are shown of hands by the whole mass of “NPC deputies(人大代表)”, in the “free election”, thanks to their assassinations and genocides.
Can you justify you are not a “five-jiao” now? You are such a frank commie!

    3. “only to piss you small towner angry boy off(the “laohong says”)”
    Wellaway! Dirty mouth once again!
