To Curb Suicides, Hong Kong Adds More Subway Safety Doors

Under pressure from groups like Hong Kong University's Centre for Suicide Research and Prevention, Hong Kong's MTR Corporation has decided to speed up its subway safety plan. According to the new timeline, announced last Friday, the remaining eight above-ground MTR stations will have platform safety doors installed by 2011, one year earlier than the original plan. "Better late than never," says Paul Yip, director of the CSRP, but there's still no safety-door-plan for the network's 30 former KCR stations, leaving too many dangerous gaps throughout the city. This must be another glorious day in China. North Korea, under the protective umbrella of the Chinese PLA, tested nuclear bombs and missiles, against UN rules. Chinese military is so strong that the US and Japan won't dare to do anything to the Chinese protectorate - North Korea. After acquiring all the technical know-how and nuclear material from China, North Korea has created nuclear capability right next the the biggest military power of the world - China. China must be extremely please with the progress of North Korea in nuclear weaponry technology, right next to the Chinese border. This will provide excellent security to the Chinese people.

How many suicides are there per year from people leaping in front of Hong Kong trains?

Fully support preventing suicide, but I would think that savings on air conditioning alone would be a good enough argument.
