Less Carbon, More Lead
In Beijing yesterday Tony Blair praised the progress China has made on green initiatives, which are outlined in a new report by the Climate Group. "Chinese businesses are now today among the top producers of electric vehicles, wind turbines, solar panels and energy efficient appliances," he said. "In an incredibly short space of time, China has taken the lead in the race to develop and commercialize a range of low-carbon technologies."
On the same morning as Blair was making his announcement, Chinese media were reporting on the country's latest environmental disaster. Nearly 100 children in central Hunan province were found to be suffering from lead poisoning due to unchecked emissions from a factory near their homes. A few days earlier protesting villagers forced the closure of another polluting factory in Shaanxi province. And three weeks before that, there were demonstrations over yet another toxin spewing plant, this one also in Hunan.
Journalist Christina Larson recently wrote about the "Great Paradox of China," of green tech and gray skies:
The experience of daily life in Beijing hardly gives the impression that the last year has been a watershed for the environment in China. Being in the capital, one can't help but feel a little quizzical glancing at recent headlines from newspapers in Washington, New York, and London announcing China's green-tech revolution. (This is what an eco-friendly revolution feels like?)
It Thursday is any indication, this paradox will only sharpen.

Neither have I seen such flattering articles, nor do I care. If they are true, we really need to scan what the "imperialists" want to do. Do they love the smoggy sky, the dark and smelly water and the toxic foods of China, or the money of the plutocrat commies? Maybe "God will first make it cracy if he want it die (天欲其亡,必令其狂)". The CCP will be poisoned to death by the toxins made by themselves, such as Sanlu milk, if you "praise" it further.

"The CCP will be poisoned to death by the toxins made by themselves, such as Sanlu milk, if you "praise" it further."
Did you mean Chinese will be poisoned to death by the CCP... CCP will not poison itself to death. Too many of them have foreign passports. They can escape to safe haven when China is too poisonous to live. And their kids don't drink milk from China. They like foreign stuff.
No. CCP won't suffer at all. CCP members have money.

Nothing is more toxic than CCP, followed by the China tsunami flooding the world with its exported goons and thugs, then comes to fake food stuff, tainted baby formula, toxic toys, and pirated IPR…..lead is at the bottom of the importance list.
Green technology? My foot!
It's cheap pirated replica and fake green projects to suck in western venture capitals supported by US pension funds. Once happily committed, venture capital collapses and technology is stolen. The red fat cats would launder the swindled money in Las Vegas, buying up real estate in Canada and Australia. Money recycles back to casinos and real estate in the west, this could be the only benefit out of the “Green Transformation”.
Day dreaming! Tony Blair.

See what my old friend, who is very patriotic overseas Chinese retunee and a real Bolshevik, has to say in his daily column of a "very patriotic" newspaper. If he is not speaking from his heart, then whoelse?

How to differentiate a fake CCP. Listen to a real Bolshevik had said:

doris33: The three of us had to be China Bashers just to keep media of the world sort of balance. Three against 1.3 billions makes it a fair game.
-
17
You got it right. Good you realise this is a three vs 1.3 billion people game.
-
17.1
But why would you worry about it anyway? You are no longer a part of this 1.3 billion people, since the day you took up your Australian citizenship. So stop playing the game of a Chinese patriot, because you are not. You have proved yourself to be nothing more than an opportunist with no sense of loyalty and integrity. You are a patriot of whatever country that suits you whenever you want.
-
-
18
It does not worry me, Yeung. It disgusts me.
I am no longer a part of this 1.3 billion people but I still have family members living in China and my heart goes to them. Many oversea Chinese still love their home country and 父老乡亲 they left behind. We love and we do not hate. Take it as a reality like it or not. Many people from different races and different countries migrate to other countries and take up citizenships. I believe a percentage of these migrants return to where they originally come from at certain stage. I am going to be one of them. If you brand migrants who return to their home land as opportunists with no sense of loyalty then that is your problem because I know my love of China and Chinese people has never changed. I have never been asked by Australian government or Australian people to give up or trade in this love. It is you who is trying to deprive me of my rights to love.

18.1
Just for the record, there are many patriotic Chinese nationals living as "permanent residents" in Australia. They work among us, they are law abiding and they contribute to the welfare of this society. However, they rarely take out Australian citizenship because they have no intention of giving up their Chinese nationality. (I repeat again: the People's Republic of China does not recognise dual citizenship.) Many Australians, including me, have plenty of respect for these "permanent residents", and we have no problem with that, even though the make a deliberate choice of not becoming an Australian. In fact, many Japanese, Korean, Singaporean, Malaysia and Indonesian nationals in Australia do the same.
Those who make a decision to take up Australian citizenship do so to express their COMMITMENT to Australia. This commitment includes a determination to protect the democratic political system of Australia as well as its terrirtorial integrity. That means if a war breaks out between Australia and China, the naturalised Australian of Chinese heritage will not hesitate to take up arms to fight for his adopted country.
But of course, there are always opportunists who become Australian citizens so that they can ripe benefits from our social welfare system. These people are generally referred to as "welfare bludgers" in Australia.
So Kuifromsydney: Will you and your children be prepared to sacrifice your lives to defend territorial integrity of Australia? Or are you just a welfare bludger?
-
-
19
At least you do not deny there are Chinese who remain as Australian PR in order to keep their Chinese citizenship.
For your knowledge the difference between a PR and a citizen of Australia is that citizens of Australia can vote but people with PR can not. PR or citizen have the same welfare access. Do not know how did you mange to get to the point to suggest I am a welfare bludger? If you want to see those welfare bludger let me tell you where you can definetely see them outside Chinese Consulate in Sydney. Very time I get there to have my visa sign I see the same group of full time protesters there. Poor thing, I think they are too old or doesnot speak much English to find themself jobs.
I think the possibility of a war breakout between China and Australia is quite remote. The two coutries need each other. The only possible way for Australia to get involved in a war against China is Australia joint the "coalition of the willing" once more. This country always have trouble to keep the US an arm away. After Australia followed the US into the Vietnam and Iraq it is hard to say what will happen next. Unfortunately when I took the citizenship many years ago I did not take all of these into consideration(that was before Iraq War). There is one thing I can tell you. If Australia decided to joint another military invasion again against any country on this planet(Iran or China for example), I would drop my citizenship immediately. I donot want to be part of it and I did not make any commitment to sacrifice my life to invade other nations! That would break my heart. The media's attempts to demonise China has been alarming in recent years. They do that before wars to fool people into accepting the killings of innocent life and destruction of other nations. I think that also alarmed many oversea Chinese and that is part of the reasons why many oversea Chinese speak out against western media.
Hang on, did you actually suggest a war in which China invades Australia? What make you think that way? Does the Chinese army have a history of crossing the ocean to occupy other countries? I understand you love Australia very much. Your feverish love have blinded you from seeing what Australia has done and may do(lets hope that doesnot happen) in the future. Try to imagine Australia as a victim of war while Australian army is one of the occupying power on other nation's land is bit ......
Nice to talk with you. I know my husband and I will return to China but my only son will stay in Australia. He is a little banana person. I have my best wishes for both countries to strengthen their relationship and maintain peace.
-
19.1
Are you suggesting to me that you only become an Australian citizen because you want to vote in our "democratic" election? Don't make me laugh. If you love democracy so much, why are you supporting a totalitarian government? Can't you see the lack of logic in your way of thinking.
Or is it because you think that you can change our political system from within, like what the Chinese government has instructed many of its nationals to do in some African countries, such as Namibia?
But of course I know exactly why some dishonest welfare budgers like you will prefer Australian citizenship. It is called HECS. This is the kind of social welfare that non-citizen cannot enjoy (unless you are a refugee), not to mention the convenience of holding an Australian passport as against a PRC passport.
The USA is Australia's strategic partner, like it or not. Or is it one of those things that you forgot to check out before you attended the citizenship ceremony many years ago? This is not the first time nor will it be the last time that Australia has joined our strategic allies to defend the world against dictators, fascists, communist and relgious extremists. The integrity of our political and legal systems relies on it. So your son better prepare himself to serve his nation, like many good Australian men and women would do.
China is a peace-loving nation!!?? You got to be joking. What is this peace-loving nation doing selling weapons to Sudan, Iran, NKorea and god knows whom? For oil, I suppose.
If China has no territorial ambition in Australia and in other Pacific Islands, why was it upset about Australia's latest defence white paper?

I came to Australia with a rosy democracy dream. It is people like you, liberal extremists who shattered my dream. In my dream, Australia was a friendly and democratic nation with no enemies. What happened in the last 10 years had completely changed what I think of democracy. Democracy is indeed an advanced way of governning but it lacks of a mechanism to prevent wars and restrain liberal extremists. Nations are responsible for the path they choose. If they choose to put up with its dictators (many nations did and Chinese chose to put up with their empires for 2000 years) then they pay a price for it. If they chose communism (which happened to China again) then they pay a price for it. These nation will one day learn and develop into democracy at their own pace. In liberal extremests' eyes, all the non-democratic nations are inferior wth their citizens half human. In liberal extremists' strange eyes these countries can be subjected to wars in the name of democracy. China supply African nation weapon for oil? Check out which countries killed one million people, disabled millions, made millions refugees in their own country for what??? That is really for the control of the oil!!!! Not for democracy!!!! After decades of "intrudcing democracy into the middle east", there is no real democracy, not even stability in the middle east. What is there is sufferring and better grib of oil by the America. In the last 10, 20, 30 years which country is constantly at war???? When a country is brutally invaded with a million killed as direct or indirect result of the war, no one is at fault. GWB was voted out? But his party is there and they will legally return. Right? I fail to see any mechanism within the democratic system to prevent similar wars from happening again. Are those Iraqies better off? Yes, they are liberated from a dictator but they now landed in the hands of terrorists who threaten ordinary people's survival every day. Defend our legal and polital system??? Killing humanbeings in millions does not defend our system!!! These wars are setbacks for democracy.
I am a welfare budgers? Only citizens and refugees can claim welfare???? Poor fellow, you do not even know the system that you are so proud of. Do you always make accusations like this against people? China has ambition in Australia's and other pacific island? Evidence? Because they are upset of Australia's defence white paper? I am afraid that is because they feel encircled just like Russia does. If they have ambition of land or natural resources why did not they take one inch of land in the last two border wars in which they won? Why have they been so busy signing border agreement with almost every single neighbouring country? You have such believe based on very little evidence because China has been demonised again, again, and again. I support a taltalitarian government? If I do that is because I do not want to see what happened to Iraq happen to China. If China landed in the hands of liberal extremists like you, Chinese people would not enjoy today's prosperity. What liberal extremists are good at is destruction not construction.
I am instructed by Chinese government to change Australian system from within? My dear fellow Australian, you do not even possess an open mind to accept that people think differently, you are unable to accept different views. It is funny people like you talk about democracy and freedom of speech. Your behaviour is an insult to democracy and freedom of speech. What you have is a cold war mind and a believe that democracy is so perfect that it is entitled to bomb every nation into it without considering the nation's development stage.
Will return on Sunday night or Monday night if you would like to continue this conversation.

@kuifromsydney:
"Liberal extremism"??? Please don't make me laugh. You don't even know what the term means. This shows how your training as a CCP propagandist contributes to your own downfall. Take my advice, the techniques of "labelling" and "name-calling" you learnt from the CCP propaganda school do not work very well outside of the PRC. When you try to put a label on somebody in order to demolish their argument or to increase your preceived credibility, you need to do more background searches so that you don't sound like an ignorant gnome.
Liberal extremism is not a concept in Australian political science. In fact it is a concept in any school of political science. But rather, it is a term that's been used rather frequently by the American neo-cons (aka previous supporters of GW Bush) to demonise the Obama administration. If you don't believe me, check it out from The Conservative Hawk Blog.
According to the neo-con, the trademarks of liberal extremists include: holocaust denial, support of 9/11 conspiracy theory, disdain for traditional American value, and non-constitutional interpretation of the Bill of Rights .... etc etc. In short, I think you are more qualified to be a "liberal extremist" than I do.
On that note, you may want to meet your fellow compatriot, a cyber-whaco called Jake McCrann. JM sometimes refers to himself as "Founder of the 100,000 strong Australian jihadi army The Australian Civil War Movement". He vowed to rid Australia of US influence and to usher in a new world order. On top of that, he also vowed to blow up the parliament house, murder John Howard, Kevin Rudd and Kim Beasley in front of their families ...
-

Enough of digression. Let's come back to the original argument. From my point of view, kuifromsydney has made a total cockup with her effort to support the PRC's United Front effort overseas. She has discredited herself when she claims to be an Australian citizen while at the same time pretends to be a Chinese patriot, espousing points of view totally in denial of core values upheld by most Australians. When being confronted, she shifted tactics and started firing cheap shots at Australia for shattering her "rosy democracy dream". She could have gotten away with appealing to melodrama if her audience were Chinese-speaking PRC nationals. But she's picked the wrong venue and the wrong audience.
kuifromsydney is a disgrace to whoever she claims to represent. And her effort to taint the image of Australians of Chinese heritage is, above all, most despicable. I could only guess what could be her real intention.

C.A.Yeung
Liberty is a core value of western democracy. "Liberal " is a word can be used to describe the supporters of individual rights, equility, freedom of speech. Within the liberals there are moderates and extremists. This is not an American only term. When you tried to justify the US lead wars in which millions killed, you are liberal extremist. When you started your own little smear campaign against China suggesting China has territorial ambition in Australia (based on no concrete evidence) you are an extremist.
I am not labling or name calling you. That is what you have been doing hard. What you said told me what you are.
You started this conversation (17.1) directly aiming at me. The fact that I am being an Australian citizen but having pro-China view, wishing one day to return to China for my retirement make you feel very uncomfortable? You started with claiming that I am an opportunist with no sense of loyalty, then went further to state that I am an opportunist to rip welfare from Australia. This time the only "evidence" you have is the false believe that Australian PRs do not have the welfare access as Australian citizens. That is not the end, You then managed to use the word "liberal extremist" link me to the "funder of jihadi army" who vowed to kill Australian polititians and blow up parliament house. And certainly you did not forget to claim that I learn "from CCP propoganda school". Do you think you went too far???
Ofcourse not. You make your attempts to discredit me even more clearer in your latest post. "back to the original argument" that I am" a disgrace", "discredited herself", "totally in denial of core values upheld by most Australians". These are your original argument, to discredit a blogger who has views that are difference from yours.
Total and complete personal attacks.
As I said before your behavoir is an insult to democracy and freedom of speech. You are unable to accept that people have different views. You resort to personal attacks to discredit others. You have no interest to discuss the points I made: democracy is imperfect, democracy has failed to prevent wars and has no mechanism to retrain liberal extremists.
I know what will be in your next post, more personal attacks. I am trying to guess what will I become in your next post, may be a terrorist, may be a CCP spy? Am I already both? Mr or Ms?
